Cultivate your dream garden with ease
When spring’s a comin’, all us garden nuts are itchin’ to clean up our patches and get ready for the new season. In this blog post, we’re gonna jaw about the steps we take to plan our garden and give y’all a peek at what we’ve done so far.
If y’all follow these steps, you can save some greenbacks, stay organized, and make sure your garden experience is sweeter than mama’s peach cobbler.
Step 1: Seed countin’
First thing on our list is to do a seed count. That means checkin’ what seeds we already got in our stash to figure out what we need to order or grab more of next season from our plants. Now, this might sound boring as watching paint dry, but it’s crucial if you wanna save some dough and not buy stuff you don’t need. By makin’ a seed inventory, we can spot what we already got and make a shoppin’ list for what we need to buy. By the way, did y’all know that many seeds stay good for years? So instead of throwin’ ’em out, give ’em a chance, its all in storing them right. And as time pass you should learn how to save your own seeds.
Step 2: Garden plannin’
This year, we’re shakin’ things up by hopfully movin’ to a new plot and startin’ a new chapter in our garden story. We believe in writin’ down our experiences and sharin’ ’em, ’cause joy shared is joy doubled, as my granddaddy used to say. To make sure your garden’s a hit, we reckon you oughta make a schedule with tasks like fixin’ up garden beds and pullin’ weeds. Havin’ a schedule helps you get into a routine and makes better use of your garden space. It also lets you plant in sections, makin’ sure new plants go in at the right time of year.
Step 3: Printin’ and delegatin’
One of the smartest things we’ve done this year is printin’ out our garden plan. It don’t just help us stay organized, but it lets us show our plans to our buddies and ask for help if we need it. By havin’ everything on paper, we can avoid messin’ up and make sure everyone knows what needs doin’. This step’s been a real game-changer in our garden journey, I tell you what.
Gardening goals for the year
Besides all the plannin’, we’ve set some goals for this year. Our first primary aim is to try and grow enough veggiesthat will sustain us throughout the year. Now, that might be tougher than a two dollar steak for us. Achieving this would kinda require careful planning, collaboration, and a touch of green thumb magic as we take our first steps at this journey and we’re ofcourse hopin’ our friends will pitch in and help us reach this goal.
We are also excited about our second goal to create welcoming spaces for friends and family to join us in our gardening journey. By providing accommodations we hope to share our knowledge and passion so our friends and family can come and learn about the daily chores we do to be self sufficient and find their own ways to live off the land and implement some of these ideas in their own daily life.
Lastly, we’re thinkin’ about gettin’ some critters like chickens or ducks, to enhance our self sufficient lifestyle. But this ain’t set in stone and depends on whether we can set up the right setup, includin’ a water drainage system ’cause we’re plannin’ to live off what mother nature provides as much as we can.
Exciting times ahead
As we wrap up this chapter of our todays gardening adventure, and start this new chapter in our garden story, we’re happier than a pig in mud to share our experiences and future plans with y’all.
By doin’ a seed count, makin’ a garden plan, and settin’ goals, you can make sure your garden season is as successful as a county fair pie contest.
We’ll keep updatin’ our blog with more info about our garden plans and progress on our new journey into the wonderful world of self sufficiency. Thanks once again for comin’ along on this ride with us, and we can’t wait to share all our up n downs with y’all. Until next time, y’all take care dear friend.
From your two passionate self sufficiency bloggers, Tidde and Fidde.
