Is it ’cause you’re scared of the unknown? Ain’t got enough time? Or maybe you’re just plum overwhelmed and don’t know where to start?

Let's get this show on the road
Now it’s time to let that seed grow. Grab your gardening gloves and your shovel, and let’s take that first step into your soon to be forest garden. Take a mosey ’round your land, picture your dream garden, and start cookin’ up a plan that’ll have your family’s taste buds doin’ a happy dance.
Whether you’re aimin’ for a big ol’ veggie patch or somethin’ a bit wilder, the sky’s the limit. So what’re you waitin’ for? Let’s get this show on the road.
Time for some soul searchin'
Now’s the time to ask yourself some important questions:
Why’re you here?
What’s got you all fired up about self-sufficiency and startin’ a forest garden?
What lit a fire under your britches to start this journey?
Think about your goals. Are you tryin’ to prepare for the unexpected? Improve your health? Save some greenbacks? Maybe it’s a little bit of everything?
Take a minute to chew on that.
Plan it out, y'all
When you’re plannin’ your forest garden, think about where you’re gonna put things, how folks’ll move around, where the sun hits, and how the water runs off. Don’t forget to consider them critters and how they mosey through your land.
Get out there and take a good look at your property. Maybe even sketch out some rough drawin’s. Let your brain noodle on these challenges. Thinkin’ about all this stuff will help you come up with a better, more sustainable design.
Get to work, partner
After all that thinkin’, it’s time to set your anchor points and get them big structures in place. Think about the mistakes you might make and learn how to store water like a pro. Decide if you want a greenhouse, or if you’re more interested in raisin’ rabbits or ducks.
Think about where you’re gonna put all this stuff and how you’re plannin’ to use your land. Ask yourself why you ain’t started yet. Take a break from that computer, get outside, and start gettin’ ready for your forest garden.
We know it’s a lot to take in, and you probably got more questions now than when you started. But at least you’ve taken that first step and can start askin’ yourself the right questions.
